2017 John Ross Curling Bonspiel

If you like to curl or have be meaning to try it this is a great time to do it. Below is a message from Tom Jacknisky about this year’s John Ross Curling Bonspiel.

Good afternoon Region XI. Hopefully you are all having a great year thus far.

I am writing to invite each chapter to attend the John Ross Bonspiel once again. The Northern Alberta Chapter will once again be hosting this event and will WAIVE THE ENTRY FEE for Regional teams taking the time to come to our fair city and take part in this great event. Your chapter would only be responsible for getting you to Edmonton and any required Accommodations (we will be setting up a room block shortly)

For any of you who have not curled before that is not a problem. Curling is a great social sport and there is NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY. In fact, even if you do not have 4 people committed we can likely find you a player if required.

Originally the John Ross was a chance for the prairie chapters to get together and break up a cold winter with a little fun competition. Since the NAC has resurrected this event we have opened it up to include invites to all other chapters as well as the Region XI Executive. It has been very successful and something everyone around here looks forward to each year.

This year we will be having this event on Saturday April 1, 2017 from 8 am till likely late. All the games will be held at the Thistle Curling Club in Edmonton and we will be having a dinner afterwards. As mentioned curling is a social sport therefore the bar will be open all day and there is never a shortage of friendly people to have a drink with.

Please speak to your board and find out if you have interest in joining us. We will be saving some spots for Region XI teams but an answer one way or the other would be appreciated. Please when responding indicate your chapter as well.

If you have any questions or comments please feel free to contact Tom.
