7th International Cold Climate Conference
The highly successful 7th International Cold Climate conference has just wrapped up in Calgary, Alberta Canada.
ASHRAE hosted and organized the conference with support from REHVA, a co-sponsor, and SCANVAC, the conference originator. The 3 day Conference provided an opportunity for 160 individuals from 16 countries to discuss and examine the latest topics in the cold climate building industry.
Some 55 peer-reviewed papers presented by diverse, international authors showcased world-wide perspectives and practices in cold climate design.
Through the numerous and social activities, attendees had ample opportunity to make new contacts, network, share ideas and expand their knowledge.
Thanks to the many sponsors for and volunteers from the Southern Alberta Chapter for their efforts in making the conference an affordable, fun and learning event.
This conference was also highlighted by the initial meeting of the Cold Climate Design Guide Committee. The design guide, which is sponsored by ASHRAE and REHVA, will develop over the next 18 months.
The City of Calgary, a diamond sponsor of the conference and supporter of the design guide development, is looking forward to having a document of this high calibre that developers and builders can use in all future construction.
ASHRAE is looking forward to co-sponsoring the 8th International Cold Climate Conference being hosted by the University of Dalian in China 2015.
